Own Your Future

In my dream life I am in shape, successful, financially stable, and living in a beachfront bungalow in Nicaragua with man that drives me crazy (in the good way).

My actual life is the fourth grade Opposite Day of my dream life.

This is because knowing what you should do isn’t the same as doing it.

Watching a Tabata workout on YouTube won’t get you in shape unless you put down the ice cream, get off the couch, and actually do 50 Star Jumps followed by 300 Torture Squats.

Listening to the “Total Money Makeover” by Dave Ramsey won’t get me out of debt unless I actually make a budget, stick to it, and put in the hard work required to pay everything off.

Longing to be the blogosphere’s Christian Chelsea Handler isn’t going to happen unless I make time every day to perfect my craft.

Thinking about asking out the hot girl from Clown School won’t get you a tiny car full of clown babies. You have to stick out your big red nose and ask her out.

You’ve heard the saying ” Success is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.” It’s gross but true.

Unless you’re some rich weirdo in a think tank (and even then you’ve made strides to get a job), ideas don’t get you anywhere without action and hard work.

Let’s stop blaming Jimmy Dean, the devil, our thyroid problems, and our absentee fathers.

If Helen Keller can write a book, I can lose thirty pounds.

The only person holding you back from reaching your goals is you.

The girl standing in the way of my love bungalow is me.

Define your dream. Work hard. Make progress. Allow for setbacks and downright failure. Joyfully anticipate great success.

What are you willing to do to make your dream into your reality?
