Pan-What?

Last night my husband and I watched a clip from an episode of Blue’s Clues. This popular children’s show, targeted at kids age 3-5, was centered on a pride parade, and a drag queen sang out about how proud these different families were to have same-sex parents or even pansexual and asexual family members. Blue’s Clues??? Stay in your lane. These are BABIES. Your job is to entertain children, not virtue signal about pansexual dolphins.

Guys, this world is out of control. Confusion reigns. Biological men who think they are women are fighting to play against biological women in sports and can’t understand why that isn’t fair. Our kids are being taught that they are either victims or oppressors based on the color of their skin, when really, they are just trying to learn how to tie their shoes and not get lost on the way to the cafeteria. If anyone tries to speak out against this nonsense, they gone.

It’s easy to get discouraged when truth is abandoned in pursuit of feelings.

So what’s the good news? It ain’t in the Washington Post, that’s for sure. It’s in the Bible.

The good news is the Gospel. Jesus died to pay the price for our sin because we are all sinners. Well, not dolphins, but people are pretty messed up.

We can look to the truth found in Scripture to affirm that we have an identity. He made us, each one of us: male, female, with just the perfect amount of melanin and he thinks we are beautiful. Don’t get it twisted, though. There is only one identity that counts in the end. We are either in Christ, or we’re not.

There has always been sin. There will always be sin, until the full amount of God’s people have been redeemed. So what do we do in the meantime?

We pray.

God raises dead people to life. We can’t. Only by the Holy Spirit can a heart turn to the Lord in repentance and faith. It is a miracle, when wicked, soul sick, lost sinners are brought to new life in Christ. Thank you,God, because that surely describes me.

We tell the truth.

It doesn’t help anyone to pretend sin won’t wreck their life. Because it will. If we truly love people, we will be bold and risk their rejection. So do we go around shouting at people to stop sinning? No. That’s dumb. Would that have worked for you? In the context of caring relationships, or when a question is presented, we lovingly and respectfully tell the truth, which aligns with God’s word. If it doesn’t, it just our opinion, and we all see where opinions have gotten us.

We love.

We open our hearts and our homes and we serve the people God has placed in our lives. We are in community with a local body of believers, and we do life together. We are known, struggles and all, and we are loved. We love back, even when it’s inconvenient. We are salt (not salty) and we are light.

In a world filled with sinking sand, those of us safely found on the rock of Christ need to stay firmly planted in God’s truth. We need to have our eyes open and our hands extended to help others up. That’s really all this life is about.

The rest is all just noise from a pansexual dolphin.

I wish I was making this stuff up.
