Three restaurants in two days. I can explain! Saturday Ash Cap and I went to Homemades By Suzanne to get a delicious, down-home lunch one last time before she moves to Africa. Saturday night my Dad and Sheryl surprised me by stopping by Richmond on their way back from North Carolina, and we went to the Water Coastal Kitchen in Carytown. So good! Last night, I met Julie back in Carytown and after browsing through the hilarious items at Mongrel (“Cooking for A-Holes”, in which there was a recipe for a “Listening Cocktail”: one bottle of vodka, two ears, one heart),  we got an early dinner at my beloved New York Deli and people watched. 70% of people in Carytown are super weird. Case in point: the girl that walked by wearing only cloud and lightning body paint on her bottom half.

It was a fun and filling weekend. The appetizers were shared, but I believe I ate somewhere around the vicinity of 53,000 calories in the last two days. This follows last week’s four day “do what feels good” long weekend in New York.

I’m over it. I do well for a while, and then someone gives me cheesecake at work just because I ask for it and I’m obligated to eat it. It was White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle. What was I supposed to do?

My (first) goal weight is still 25 pounds away and I promised myself I’d meet it by Christmas. I’m putting my big girl game face on (I wasn’t going to say panties!) and keeping that promise.

I have a week’s worth of daily goals written out, including workouts and menu plans. I’m drinking 8 glasses of water. Getting in shape is one of MY goals and MY dreams so I should be excited by the steps I need to take. Not constrained.

Do y’all have any goals you’d like to reach by Christmas? What would be a great present to give yourself? For me, losing weight and making progress on my book are at the top of my list.

Hard work, day by day (by day, by day), will yield results. I don’t want to look back three months from now and wish I had done something. I want to do it. I’m gonna “weigh in” every Monday..with pounds or inches lost, without telling my actual numbers. Some things don’t need to be said, amiright? I do want to be held accountable and measure my progress, though. I am anticipating great results!

Who’s with me?

  1. We can do this girl! I totally get what you’re saying about the cheesecake. Sometimes, I’m presented with something delicious, and I get this mindset that I MUST eat it. It helps to remind myself that I’ll have other opportunities to eat this food, and it’s ok to say no this time, if that’s what’s going to get me closer to my goal 🙂
