With clarity comes conviction.
What the Lord has made clear to me this past couple years is that when you don’t conform to culture, it makes people angry.
The Lord has also taught me to be okay with that.
You know why? Because what our culture wants us to conform to its twisted, godless values. Our culture values virtue signaling over actual virtue. And that seems empty and pointless to me.
I want to be kind. I want to be compassionate. But I refuse to do stuff “just because” when a) there is no logic involved or b) it involves promotion of godless ideologies or participation in sin.
“Just wear it” because it makes people feel better? I’m so sorry. I’m not going to perpetuate the lie. I’m just not. If it actually made a difference that would be a totally different story! But I’m not covering my face to give other people false comfort. And by the way, if you have a study other than the debunked one from Arizona that includes distance learners! about the efficacy of cloth masks, feel free to send it my way! I’m ok with being wrong. But so far, no one has given me scientific facts in favor of masking. Conversely, there’s tons of data that show they don’t do a darn thing, including similar outcomes in schools that masked vs. didn’t mask.
And let’s not even talk about the other thing today. Culture says all of us should do our part, even when statistically the solution, in certain age groups, is more dangerous than the problem. All I have to say is that when ten year olds are having heart attacks directly after certain other things take place, something is really freaking wrong. And not all negative outcomes are immediate. I don’t want that for any of my friends! Ultimately, it’s up to each of us. But we deserve to have all the information.
What else is culture saying these days? That men can be pregnant. That abortion is healthcare. That it doesn’t matter if people who enter the country illegally follow the same guidelines we’re expected to adhere to. That handing out crack pipes is fine, but healthy people breathing air freely is a crime against humanity. That Jina had it right and censorship is not only ethical, it’s necessary for your own good; for the good of the people? And when the people in charge who think they are above the rules us plebes have to follow and adopt a “Do as I say, not as I do?” philosophy, it nullifies their credibility even further. These are the people we’re supposed to trust?
Not a chance.
So why don’t I just keep my mouth shut and do things my own way? Because lots of people are dying. Because ten year olds are having heart attacks. Because the lies they are foisting on us as “truth” don’t align with reality, and they’re ostracizing anyone who doesn’t get in line. Because right and wrong still exist. Because clarity leads to conviction.
My convictions tell me what God says is true and every man who disagrees with him is lying.
My convictions tell me that “Pretend, Don’t Offend™️” is not an authentic way to live or to love. My convictions tell me to follow the money; get to the source; separate fact from fiction; think critically; and last but not least, elevate God’s wisdom over the world’s.
My convictions also compel me to lovingly share things I believe are vitally important to get right, because I care about people.
So that’s what I’m going to do.
Happy Friday, friends! Love you!
Angela
