I Am Loved

“God never closes a door without opening a time portal to 1996”. ~Somewhere in the Bible (Message Version)

Last week I vowed to quit wasting my time flirting with Mr. Wrong. There was one great date, and maybe some long-time-coming kissing, but all in all I knew he was not a godly man, despite the fact he claimed to be. I was done.

My friends all backed me on my decision, and I knew it was right, but Square One is my least favorite shape. Womp womp. Upwards and onwards. Which usually means I won’t kiss anyone again for at least a year and a half.

Unbeknownst to me, another possibility had been unfolding.

In the past month, I have been in contact with my high school boyfriend. I didn’t give it much thought, until I started putting together what he was saying. Some of those things included becoming a Christian, having a heart to help the poor and needy, never stopped loving me, and willing to wait until marriage. You know, the usual. Also, he’s an amazing rapper and knows how to make an old-fashioned, so best of both worlds.

With his permission, I am letting you in on my journey and this potentially pivotal point (aka, hey, maybe I can finally change my Facebook status to “in a relationship”). I don’t know yet. I do know good things don’t need to be rushed, and will stand to be contemplated and prayed over.

I just love God’s timing. As soon as I obeyed, and let go of “not great”, a real contender stepped into the ring. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it, and not to place too much emphasis over the fact that a good friend spoke a God word into my life last week telling me my life was about to change and that my season of barrenness and lack were over.

Cautiously optimistic.
